He was born in San Pedro De Mayabón in 1939, Los Arabos municipality, Matanzas.
Being the son of Chinese parents and Cuban mother. He died on February 11, 2010. He was a Cuban military man, Brigadier General, member of the Political Bureau of the PCC. One of the three revolutionary Generals of Chinese origin.
In 1947 his family moved to Havana since his father suffered a stroke. In the capital the family set up a cafeteria to later enter the institute in Havana.
Revolutionary Activities
He begins his revolutionary activities together with Antonio Ñico López Fernández and Gerardo Abreu Fontán. He distributed advertisements and painted walls, until Fontán decided to go to the Sierra Maestra. He remained hidden for 4 months in Bayamo, posing as the nephew of a Chinese man who had a laundry until he managed to go up in November 1957.
In Alto de la Jeringa, by Santo Domingo, in the house of the muleteer Jacinto Peñate he met Fidel Castro Ruz.
He was sent to the squad of the doctor Julio Martínez Páez until he requested his transfer, being sent with Crescencio Pérez, with whom he spent a month, on commission to convince Fontán and Sergio González to go to the Sierra Maestra and despite the fact that the first He was assassinated and met with González, who did not want to go, putting his position as Head of Action and Sabotage. The so-called Band-Aid was killed weeks later.
In the La Plata command, Fidel appointed him Chief of the Strategic Reserves of the Sierra Maestra until he was appointed to another responsibility.
When the guerrilla offensive began, he was sent with Santiago Armada with a mine and detonator, the last one remaining in the reserve to where the Ramón La Paz platoon was, in order to prevent the passage of the reinforcement that the army had sent in support for the troops of Commander José Quevedo, who were surrounded between the coast and the Jigüe. Later he joined Joel Pardo's squad, which was under the orders of Ernesto Guevara.
Fights in which he participated.
He participated in the fighting in Casa de Piedra, Providencia and Sao Grande, until column 8 Ciro Redondo was created in Las Mercedes, with which he was part of the invasion of the West.
Triumph of the Revolution
Upon the triumph of the Revolution, he was promoted to First Lieutenant in the first days of January 1959. He was the founder of the Military Police, which was in charge of discipline in the army. He served in San Julián where the Rural Revolutionary Police School was organized, until in 1965 he was appointed assistant to the then Minister of the Armed Forces Raúl Castro Ruz, for 7 years.
He was Chief of the National Institute of State Reserves and President of the Association of Cuban Chinese Friendship.
He died on February 11, 2010, the victim of a painful disease. By decision, his body was cremated.
