Historical synthesis:

It is the youngest of the municipality's commemorative buildings. It was built at the request and initiative of culture workers in 1982, a work carried out by the Arab sculptor Antonio Mederos.

Pedro M Morejón Quintana:

He was born on January 31, 1941 in San Pedro de Mayabón. There he studies and works as a child. In 1961 he collaborated in the Literacy Campaign with his father. On February 21 of the same year, he was assassinated by the counterrevolutionary gang of Campito, near the La Palma river.

Sofiel Riverón López:

He was born on October 20, 1929 in Monte Alto. Son of Pedro and Ignacia, of humble origin since he was little, he had to work. He moved to the capital and continued studies, alternating with different jobs. When the revolution triumphed, he joined the MNR, later standing out in the 6th PNR unit. There he was until the school of Caimito de Guayabal. He leaves on April 18, 1961 to Girón, in a battalion under the command of Cte Efigenio Amejeiras. He was mortally wounded on April 19, 1961.

Jesús Mondéjar Chávez: Born on May 20, 1922 on the Monte Alto farm. Son of Virginia and Ventura, a large family, with a very difficult financial situation.

He rebelled against the abuse of the owners, the low wages. In 1959 he joined the MNR, completed studies at the Ceiba Mocha infantry school, and was appointed general manager of the Pedrito Morejón de Los Arabos farm.

At this time a counterrevolutionary gang operated in the area. On May 18, 1962 one of these groups attacked the Negrín batey, where he lived, defending the farm where he worked, he was cowardly shot in the back.
