Together they did an arduous job collecting funds for the work, without official help. A neighbor donated the parcel of land. She directed the simple building, in the shape of an obelisk, on a relief star, all built by the neighbors.

It was inaugurated on August 21, 1904 in the presence of local authorities, mayors and other personalities. Toribio Santurio spoke. The young people of the Maceo society donated the gate of the Mausoleum.
