Historical synthesis:

In the year 1944 the secretary of the committee for the monument to Carmen Jiménez, the teacher Leocadia González asked the municipal mayor, Dtor Francisco Secada Sierra, to grant as a donation, the small portion of land in the form of an angle, belonging to Mr. Raúl Pereira, Located between Menocal Avenue and September 4, in order to raise a monument to the distinguished educator Carmen Jiménez.

The municipal council approved the donation and began the work carried out by the pro bustos board, supported by the teachers of Public Instruction, with President Juana Quevedo, secretary Leocadia González, treasurer Angela González, vocal José Manuel Hernández, all educators.

The aid board was made up of former students of Carmen Jiménez, was made up of President Raúl González, secretary María Luisa Castellanos, and treasurer Crececio Zuaznábar.

In 1945 the bust was placed and unveiled, paying tribute to the famous teacher of the town. Local authorities, educators, alumni, public and private schools were present. Professor Toribio Santurio Pereira spoke as the main speaker.

Carmen Jiménez Salazar: Natural de Matanzas, graduated from the Guanabacoa normal school, competent teacher and patriot.

In 1990 he came to work in the town of Macagua, he fought against illiteracy and misery in the area with great dedication and affection. He lived on General Dulce Street. He had no children. He taught all grades of primary education. In 1901, when he visited the cemetery of the place, he saw the remains of Clotilde García and other mambises, scattered, as a result of the deterioration of the vault where they lay. Since then, he put all his efforts into building a mausoleum, to give them an honorable burial, an objective that accomplished in 1904.
